Stories of Hope: YATI

My name is Yati. I am now 37 years old. I have one daughter who is 12 years old.

I am a single parent. I divorced in 2016 when my child was still small.

In my circumstances, I have to meet my own needs and those of my daughter on my own. I had to take on a lot of new things to take care of my child. Usually there is a husband to depend on, but I have no husband. So, I have to work hard to provide for myself and my child.

I live now with my mother, and I work in a shoe factory near my house. Even though I work in a factory, I am very happy because of the FAVE bag project. In the evening after work, I can sew FAVE bags to have additional income. I can use the FAVE bags to supplement our daily needs. As a single mother, I have to work hard, so if there is a job opportunity, I will do it. By sewing FAVE bags, I can work at home accompanied by my child. I still have time to spend with her. As a single parent, I want to make my child happy.

When I work in the factory, I am always required to meet targets, and there are many things that I have to do to comply with factory rules. Sometimes in the work environment, not everyone likes me. But when I work from home, I can be more relaxed about my work, and I'm happy because I have my daughter to accompany me, which motivates me to always work hard.

I always hope that lots of FAVE bags will be sold, so that I can continue working. The income from sewing FAVE bags is very helpful for me and my child.

Thank You.
